APU FIRE

1. APU FIRE HANDLE / AGT LOW LIGHT - PULL AND ROTATE / CHECK

  • The APU fire handle must be PULLED AND ROTATED AND / OR CHECKED.

2. APU START / STOP SWITCH - OFF

  • APU Start / Stop Switch must be set to the OFF position.

AIR SYSTEM TO MANUAL

IF IN AUTO, SKIP TO STEP 6


3. BLEED AIR 2 SWITCH - OFF

  • Bleed air 2 switch must be set to the OFF position.

4. 1-2 ISOL Switch - OFF

  • 1-2 ISOL Switch must be moved to the OFF position

5. PACK 2 - OFF

  • Pack number 2 must be set to OFF.

6. WAIT 30 SECONDS

  • Wait 30 seconds, recheck if fire warning is continuing.

FIRE WARNING CONTINUES

IF FIRE WARNING DOES NOT CONTINUE, SKIP TO END OF APU FIRE CHECKLIST


7. REMAINING FIRE AGENT - DISCHARGE / CHECK

  • If fire warnings continue, DISCHARGE AND MONITOR

NOTE

All remaining fire agent for the APU and engine number 2 have now been depleted.

8. LAND AT NEAREST SUITABLE AIRPORT

  • Landing at the nearest suitable airport for aircraft repair.

CRG FIRE LWR FWD & AFT

1. FLASHING CARGO FIRE AGENT DISCH SWITCH - PUSH

  • PUSH in the flashing cargo fire agent discharge switch

NOTE

The CARGO FIRE AGENT DISCH switch will continue to flash until the LOW light illuminates

2. ASSOCIATED CARGO FLOW SWITCH - OFF

  • Move the associated cargo flow switch to the OFF position

3. ASSOCIATED CARGO TEMP SELECTOR - OFF

  • Move the associated cargo temp selector switch to the OFF position.

CRG FLO AFT DISAG

IF NOT DISPLAYED, SKIP TO STEP 8


NOTE

“CRG FLO AFT DISAG” alert may be displayed after a cargo fire procedure is completed and airflow through aft cargo compartment is detected.

4. AIR SYSTEM SELECT SWITCH - MANUAL

  • PRESS the air system select switch for manual mode.

5. BLEED AIR 1 SWITCH - OFF

  • Move the bleed air 1 switch to the OFF position.

6. PACK 1 SWITCH - OFF

  • Move the pack 1 switch to the OFF position.

7. 1-2 AND 1-3 ISOL SWITCHES - OFF

  • Move the 1-2 and 1-3 ISOL Switches to the OFF position.

    Depart / Avoid icing area

8. WAIT APPROXIMATELY 1 MINUTE

CARGO FIRE AGENT DISCH LOW LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED

IF FIRE AGENT DISCH LOW LIGHT IS NOT ILLUMINATED, SKIP TO STEP 11


9. LAND AT NEAREST SUITABLE AIRPORT

  • Landing at the nearest suitable airport for aircraft repair.

NOTE

Approximately 90 minutes after agent 1 has been discharged, “DISCH CARGO AGENT” alert will be displayed on EAD and CARGO FIRE AGENT 2 DISCH switch will flash. The flashing CARGO FIRE AGENT DISCH switch should be pushed at that time.

10. DURING APPROACH IF NOT ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED, ASSOCIATED CARGO FIRE AGENT 2 DISCH SWITCH - PUSH

  • During the approach phase of flight if the crew have not already pushed the associated CARGO FIRE AGENT DISCH Switch number 2 this must now be PUSHED.

NOTE

This switch is located below the previous flashing switch

11. ASSOCIATED CARGO FIRE AGENT DISCH SWITCH - PUSH

  • The associated CARGO FIRE AGENT DISCH Switch number 2 this must now be PUSHED.

NOTE

This switch is located below the previous flashing switch

12. LAND AT NEAREST SUITABLE AIRPORT

  • Landing at the nearest suitable airport for aircraft repair.

ENGINE 1 / 2 / 3 FIRE

1. THROTTLE - IDLE

  • Move throttle of affected engine to the IDLE position

2. FUEL SWITCH - OFF

  • Fuel switch of the affected engine to the OFF position

3. ENG FIRE HANDLE / AGT LOW LIGHT - DOWN, DISCH / CHECK

  • Pull down the engine fire handle, activating discharge of the fire agent then check and verify the system has been activated.

Wait until 30 seconds have elapsed

"ENGINE 1, 2 & 3 FIRE" ALERT REMAINS DISPLAYED OR "FIRE DET 1, 2 & 3 FAIL" ALERT DISPLAYED

IF NEITHER OF THESE ARE DISPLAYED, SKIP TO AIR SYSTEM MANUAL


4. REMAINING AGENT - DISCH / CHECK

  • Discharge and check the remaining fire agent has been activated.

5. ASSOCIATED BLEED AIR SWITCH - OFF

  • Move the associated bleed air switch to the OFF position.

6. ASSOCIATED ISOL SWITCH(ES) - OFF

  • Move the associated ISOL switch/switches to the OFF position.

FUEL SYSTEM MANUAL

IF SYSTEM IS STILL IN AUTO, SKIP TO CONTINUOUS HIGH AIRFRAME VIBRATION PRESENT


7. ASSOCIATED TANK PUMP'S - OFF

  • Move the associated tank pump / pumps to the OFF position.

CONTINUOUS HIGH AIRFRAME VIBRATION PRESENT

IF NO VIBRATIONS ARE PRESENT, SKIP TO STEP 8


Without delay, reduce airspeed and descend to a safe altitude which results in an acceptable vibration level.

NOTE

If high vibration returns and further airspeed reduction and descent are not practicable, increasing airspeed may reduce vibration.

8. TCAS / ATC MODE SELECTOR - TA ONLY

  • Move the TCAS / ATC Mode selector to the TA ONLY position

9. LAND AT NEAREST SUITABLE AIRPORT

  • Landing at the nearest suitable airport for aircraft repair.

SMOKE / FIRE / FUMES

NOTE

Diversion may be required

CAUTION

Removing the source of ignition from a fire may not cause the fire to extinguish

1. OXYGEN MASKS (IF REQUIRED) - ON / 100%

  • Use emergency oxygen pressure, as required to purge mask goggles of smoke and/or fumes.

2. CREW COMMUNICATION - ESTABLISH

  • Establish communication with the crew.

3. EMER LT SWITCH - ON

  • Move the emergency lighting switch to the ON position

4. CAB BUS SWITCH - OFF

  • Move the CAB BUS switch to the OFF position.

5. CABIN CREW / IN-FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - NOTIFY / OFF

  • Notify Cabin crew and turn the in-flight entertainment system off.

Any time smoke or fumes becomes the greatest threat, refer to Abnormal Non-Alert procedure - SMOKE/FUMES REMOVAL.

NOTE

If fumes are identified as fuel/oil and an increase in oil quantity is observed, refer to Abnormal Non-Alert procedure - ENGINE OIL QUANTITY INCREASE.

SOURCE OBVIOUS AND ACCESSIBLE

IF SOURCE IS NOT OBVIOUS OR ACCESSIBLE, SKIP TO STEP 8


Isolate and extinguish the source. If possible remove power from the affected equipment by switch or circuit breaker on the flight deck or in the cabin.

SOURCE CONFIRMED EXTINGUISHED AND SMOKE/FUMES ARE DECREASING

IF SOURCE IS NOT CONFIRMED TO BE EXTINGUISHED OR SMOKE / FUMES ARE NOT DECREASING, SKIP TO STEP 8


Flight continuation is Subject Captain's Decision (SCD).

6. SUBJECT CAPTAIN'S DISCRETION (SCD) - CAB BUS SWITCH - ON

  • Move the CAB BUS switch to the ON position.

7. SUBJECT CAPTAIN'S DISCRETION (SCD) - EMER LT SWITCH - ARM

  • Move the EMER LT switch to the ARM position.

8. DIVERSION - INITIATE

  • Initiate a diversion to the nearest suitable airport while continuing the checklist.

WARNINGS

  • Consider an immediate landing if smoke, fire or fumes become uncontrollable.
  • Do not delay landing in order to accomplish Emergency or Abnormal procedures as well as fuel dump.

LANDING IMMINENT

IF LANDING IS NOT IMMINENT, SKIP TO STEP 9

9. XPDR SWITCH - SELECT 1

  • Move the XPDR Switch to position 1.

10. VHF-1 OR HF-1 - SELECT VHF-1 AND / OR HF-1

  • Select VHF-1 and / or HF-1

11. AUTOTHROTTLES - OFF

  • Select autothrottles to the OFF position.

12. THROTTLES - SET 70% N1 OR LESS

  • Set the N1 to 70% or less.

13. FADEC MODE SWITCHES (ALL ENGINES) - SELECT ALTERNATE

  • Set all FADEC mode switches to the ALTN posiiton.

14. AP 1 (IF DESIRED) - SELECT

  • If desired select the AP 1 switch.

CAUTION - FUEL DUMP CONSIDERATIONS

If conditions permit, delay fuel dump until smoke switch is in its final position. If fuel dump is started prior to or during smoke switch operation, various valves and pumps may not be controllable which may result in an uncontrollable fuel dump.

15. SMOKE ELEC / AIR SELECTOR - 3 / 1 OFF

  • Set the SMOKE ELEC / AIR SELECTOR 3 / 1 to the OFF position.

Evaluate smoke / fumes for up to 2 minutes

CAUTION

If smoke and/or fumes increase during the waiting period, proceed immediately to next step.

SMOKE / FUMES DECREASE

IF SMOKE / FUMES DO NOT DECREASE, SKIP TO STEP 25


Leave SMOKE ELEC/AIR selector in 3/1 OFF for remainder of flight.

NOTE

If “FLAP DISAG” alert is displayed, use left inboard flap indication on CONFIG synoptic or PFD to determine flap position.

16. ENG IGN - VERIFY IGN A selected

  • Verify that ENG IGN switch A is activated.

17. FLAP LIMIT SELECTOR - OVRD 1

  • Set the flap limit selector to the OVRD 1 position.

18. MANUAL THRUST LIMITS - SELECT G/A

  • Select the G/A option for the manual thrust limits.

19. AUTOBRAKE SELECTOR - OFF

  • Set the autobrake selector to the OFF position.

NOTE

G/A Switch is inoperative.

20. LAND AT NEAREST SUITABLE AIRPORT

  • Landing at the nearest suitable airport for aircraft repair.

GO-AROUND ASPECTS

21. AUTOPILOT / AUTOTHROTTLES - DISCONNECT

  • Disconnect the autopilot and autothrottles.

22. THRUST - SET

  • Thrust set for go around.

23. SPEED - VREF (28) + 5

  • Manage speed to be at VREF + 5

Wait until positive rate of climb is indicated

24. GEAR HANDLE - UP

  • Move the gear handle to the UP position.

25. SMOKE ELEC / AIR SELECTOR - 2 / 3 OFF

  • Set the SMOKE ELEC / AIR SELECTOR 2 / 3 to the OFF position.

26. LAND AT NEAREST SUITABLE AIRPORT

  • Landing at the nearest suitable airport for aircraft repair.

NOTE

Landing gear position indications may be observed on CONFIG synoptic.

Control wheel trim switches are inoperative. Use LONG TRIM handles when stabilizer trim is desired.

27. AP 2 (IF DESIRED) - SELECT

  • If desired select the AP 2 switch.

28. XPDR SWITCH - SELECT 2

  • Move the XPDR Switch to position 2.

29. VHF-2 OR HF-2 - SELECT VHF-2 AND / OR HF-2

  • Select VHF-2 and / or HF-2

30. SMOKE ELEC / AIR SELECTOR - 1/2 OFF

  • Set the SMOKE ELEC / AIR SELECTOR 1 / 2 to the OFF position.

Evaluate smoke / fumes for up to 2 minutes

If smoke and/or fumes increase during the waiting period, proceed immediately to next step.

SMOKE / FUMES DECREASE

Leave SMOKE ELEC/AIR selector in 1/2 OFF for remainder of flight.

NOTE

If “FLAP DISAG” alert is displayed, use right inboard flap indication on CONFIG synoptic or PFD to determine flap position.

31. ENG IGN - VERIFY IGN B SELECTED

  • Verify that the ENG IGN B switch is activated.

32. FLAP LIMIT SELECTOR - OVRD 2

  • Set the flap limit selector switch to the OVRD 2 position

33. MANUAL THRUST LIMITS - SELECT G/A

  • Select G/A for the manual thrust limits.

34. CAPT FLT DIR OFF SWITCH - OFF

  • Set the captain's FLT DIR OFF Switch to the OFF position.

35. AUTO BRAKE SELECTOR - OFF

  • Set the autobrake selector to the OFF position.

NOTES

  • Autopilot will become INOP when IRU 1 and IRU AUX become inoperative.
  • G/A switch is inoperative.

36. LAND AT NEAREST SUITABLE AIRPORT

  • Landing at the nearest suitable airport for aircraft repair.

GO-AROUND ASPECTS

37. AUTOPILOT / AUTOTHROTTLES - DISCONNECT

  • Disconnect the autopilot and autothrottles.

39. SPEED - VREF (28) + 5

  • Manage speed to be at VREF + 5

  • Move the gear handle to the UP position.
