1. FUEL QUANTITY - EVALUATE

Evaluate the total remaining fuel quantity.

Check departure fuel minus total used is approximately equal to present fuel on board. If a fuel leak is suspected, confirmed, or sufficient reserves cannot be verified, continue with the remainder of the FUEL QTY/USED CHK procedure and consider landing at nearest suitable airport.

NOTES

Pressing the FUEL USED RESET button after engine start may also cause the “FUEL QTY/USED CHK” alert to be displayed.
Some inflight maneuvers or turbulence may cause fuel quantity indications to fluctuate enough to cause the “FUEL QTY/USED CHK” alert to be displayed. In such cases, the alert should extinguish after the aircraft is established in stable flight for 2 to 3 minutes.

Continue fuel comparison checks, check fuel quantity against the flight planned fuel, and if conditions permit, scan outside for possible fuel venting.

Some subsequent fuel system faults will not present alerts on EAD or illuminate MASTER WARNING/CAUTION lights; however, annunciator lights on overhead panel are operative.

If a fuel leak is suspected, perform the abnormal alert procedure “FUEL QTY/USED CHK”.
The “FUEL QTY/USED CHK” alert is inhibited with the fuel system in MANUAL mode.
If alert appeared during fuel dump, complete or terminate fuel dump prior to accomplishing this procedure.

1. FUEL SYSTEM SELECT SWITCH - MANUAL

Set the fuel system select switch to manual.

IF FUEL CROSSFEED IS NOT DESIRED, SKIP TO STEP

2. TANK TRANS SWITCH (SUPPLYING TANK) - ON

Set the TANK TRANS SWITCH from the supplying tank to the ON position.

3. TANK XFEED SWITCH(ES) (RECEIVING ENGINE[S]) - ON

Set the TANK XFEED switch(es) for the receiving engine(s) to the ON position.

4. TANK PUMPS SWITCH(ES) (RECEIVING ENGINE[S]) - OFF

Set the TANK PUMPS switch(es) for the receiving engine(s) to the OFF position.

5. FUEL QUANTITIES - MONITOR

Monitor fuel quantities

Wait until tank quantities are approximately balanced

6. TANK PUMPS SWITCH(ES) (RECEIVING ENGINE[S]) - ON

Set the TANK PUMPS switch(es) for the receiving engine(s) to the ON position.

7. TANK XFEED SWITCH(ES) (RECEIVING ENGINE[S]) - OFF

Set the TANK XFEED switch(es) for the receiving engine(s) to the OFF position.

8. TANK TRANS SWITCH (SUPPLYING TANK) - OFF

Set the TANK TRANS SWITCH from the supplying tank to the OFF position.

9. TANK TRANS SWITCH (SUPPLYING TANK) - ON

Set the TANK TRANS SWITCH from the supplying tank to the ON position.

PUSH AND HOLD required fuel tank switch(es).

Wait until tank quantities are approximately balanced

11. TANK FILL SWITCH(ES) (RECEIVING TANK[S]) - RELEASE

RELEASE required fuel tank switch(es).

12. TANK TRANS SWITCH (SUPPLYING TANK) - OFF

Set the TANK TRANS SWITCH from the supplying tank to the OFF position.

TAIL FUEL QTY LO

1. TANK 2 PUMPS SWITCH - ON

Set TANK 2 PUMPS switch to the ON position.

2. TAIL TANK ALT PUMP SWITCH - OFF

Set TAIL TANK ALT PUMP switch OFF position.

CAUTION

Immediate action is required to prevent flameout of engine 2 due to fuel starvation.

TAIL PUMPS LO

CAUTION

Do not reset any tripped fuel pump circuit breakers.

1. TAIL TANK TRANS SWITCH - OFF

Set TAIL TANK TRANS switch OFF position.

TAIL TANK QUANTITY LESS THAN 450 KILOGRAMS

IF TAIL TANK QUANTITY IS MORE THEN 450 KILOGRAMS, SKIP TO STEP 2

2. TAIL TANK ALT PUMP SWITCH - ON

Set TAIL TANK ALT PUMP switch ON position.

CAUTION

Observe synoptic to verify fuel supply from tail tank alternate pump to engine 2. The next action will cause engine 2 to flame out if tail tank alternate pump is not supplying fuel to engine 2.

3. TANK 2 PUMPS SWITCH - OFF

Set TANK 2 PUMPS switch to the OFF position.

CAUTION

Do not allow fuel quantity in tail tank to decrease below 450 kilograms as flameout of engine 2 could occur.

As time permits:

Open (pull) the FUEL PUMP CONTROL circuit breaker(s) for the applicable pump(s).
Do not reset circuit breaker(s).
Do not use pump(s) for remainder of flight.
If on the ground takeoff, open (pull) associated circuit breaker(s) and contact maintenance.
Use table below to locate applicable circuit breaker(s):

Pressurize manifold only to maintain fuel quantity in upper aux and main tanks 900 to 1400 kilograms below full.
